A SUPERMARKET in Pickering has announced that it will be supporting three good causes in Ryedale with a popular scheme.

The Market Place and Eastgate Co-op stores will support Newton Upon Rawcliffe Playing Field Association, Thornton Dale 1st Brownies and Rainbows, and Little Ducklings Preschool, through the Local Community Fund scheme.

This support will be given from now until end October 2023.

Under the scheme, whenever Co-op members buy own-branded products or services a percentage of what is spent goes into the Local Community Fund.

Since its launch in 2016, £117 million has now been distributed nationally.

Newton Upon Rawcliffe Playing Field require funding to further enhance the play equipment and picnic facilities.

Thornton Dale Brownies and Rainbows would like to purchase camping and cooking equipment, this will enable the girls to learn new skills and challenges while building confidence and making friends.

Little Ducklings are a small preschool in Pickering offering a safe and stimulating environment - and would like to buy outdoor and sensory equipment providing opportunities for the children to learn new skills.

A spokesperson for the Co-op said: “Every penny can make such a difference to local groups and provide essential funding for ongoing projects.”
