THE A64 has been closed this evening following a serious crash.
The incident happened on the West Knapton/West Heslerton stretch of the road.
Highways England tweeted around 7pm that a serious collision had occurred and police were closing the road.
Reminder the #A64 is closed in both directions between the #B1248 (nr #NortononDerwent) and B1249 (nr #Sherburn) due to a serious collision. The closure is expected to be in place for a number of hours for @NYorksPolice investigation work. https://t.co/yatNkXoGhR

At 9.30pm, the road was still closed in both directions, with Highways England stating that police collision investigators were on the scene.
Diversions have been in place, with police advising motorists to avoid the area.
Update: Police have since confirmed that sadly a man was killed in this collision.
