SLINGSBY entertained Thornton-le-Dale in a four goal thriller in the Newitts.com Beckett Football League Division One.

The hosts took a third minute lead from a Scott Simpson free-kick.

Gary Parker and Danny Greaves both went close to scoring an equaliser before a Will Taylor's corner found Parker who headed the ball down and toe poked it into the goal. On the stroke of half-time Slingsby’s Shaun Keefe hit the crossbar with a shot.

In the second half Thornton-le-Dale took the lead after 46 minutes when Greaves beat his man and crossed the ball to Harry Kenworthy to give his side a 2-1 lead.

Slingsby were back on level terms after 52 minutes when Dale's player/manager Danny Russell conceded a penalty by tripping Jack Hopwood. Paul Holder converted the penalty, his first goal for the club since a move from Union Rovers. Thornton-le-Dale had an effort disallowed as Jake Dennison was adjudged to be offside.

Award winners were Paul Holder who shared the Slingsby award with goalkeeper Kirk Newton, and midfielder Ryan Boyes won the Thornton-le-Dale honours.

Duncombe Park entertained Sinnington with the visitors winning a very close game by the single goal scored by Stuart Wilkinson five minutes from the end. Park’s improved defensive performance just couldn’t hold out for the full 90 minutes. Man-of-the-match was Park's midfielder Jonathon Nicholson and right back Will Sanders for Sinnington.

Rosedale earned a share of the second division top spot after a 2-1 win at home to pre-match leaders Snainton Reserves.

In the opening 10 minutes Snainton’s Jono Davies hit the crossbar but on 15 minutes Mark Vasey fired Snainton into the lead.

The game looked to be heading the way of the leaders until the last minute when Rosedale's Alastair Wilkinson took a free-kick on the half way line and 16-year-old substitute Ross Wilson scored his first goal for the club. Deep into stoppage time a ball from Wilkinson into the Snainton penalty area was dropped by goalkeeper Josh Hill and right winger James Smith scored the winner. Awards went to centre back Alastair Wilkinson (Rosedale) and left back Tom Gavin (Snainton).

Ryedale Sports Club beat Settrington Reserves 4-1. Ryedale took an early lead when a long throw by Matty Bower found Marc Dobson who controlled the ball and his turn and shot beat the goalkeeper. Settrington equalised before half -time with a Declan Copeland goal.

In the second half Ryedale stepped up their game, a Bower cross found Jamie Fewster to score from an acute angle. A quick throw by Jonathan Seller found Fewster to score his second goal of the game, and Ryedale’s final goal was scored by Martin Foixton after excellent work by Bower.

Ryedale’s man-of-the-match was Jack Fewster.

Heslerton Reserves entertained Gillamoor with the visitors worthy 6-2 winners.

Gillamoor took the lead after 20 minutes with a goal by Ryan Mintoft, ten minutes later Sam Taylor scored and a second Mintoft goal gave Gillamoor a 3-0 interval lead.

Heslerton improved in the second half but Daryl Rivis scored Gillamoor’s fourth goal when he chipped the Hesslerton goalkeeper Rob Campbell.

A long throw by Aidan Horton found an unmarked Dan Tate who headed the ball into the goal to bring Heslerton back into the game.

Sam Taylor set-up Ryan Mintoft to complete his hat-trick. Aidan Horton scored from an unstoppable free-kick but Gillamoor’s sixth and final goal was scored by Sam Taylor with a ‘solo’ effort.

Man of the Match winners were James Sawdon (Heslerton) along with Ty Walton. Aidan Horton, and hat-trick man Ryan Mintoft won the Gillamoor awards.
