Brooklyn 3rds were full value for their 1-0 home win against Kirkdale United in newitts.com Beckett League division two.

The only goal was scored by Jack Boyd with a 25-yard free-kick which went into the far corner.

Man of the match winners were Simon Leckenby (Brooklyn) and Rob Galtrey (Kirkdale).

Thornton-le-Dale Reserves entertained Pickering Knights with the visitors worthy 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Ryan Taylor (2), and Greg Fawcett. Jake Harrison scored for the the opposition.

On Saturday, Gillamoor beat Norton United 8-0. Gillamoor hit four goals in each half with Ryan Rivis scoring four, Andrew Claughton two, and Patrick Bernstein two.

Man of the match winners were Ryan Rivis (Gillamoor). There were also impressive displays by Harry Oyston, Karl Smith, and Patrick Bernstein. Nathan Cross shared the Norton United award with Oscar Johnson.

There were two second round Marisa Trophy games on Saturday.

Pickering Knights lost 5-2 at home to first division Union Rovers who held a four-goal first-half lead with a goal from Dean Sleightholme and a hat-trick from Dan Simpson.

Early in the second-half, player/manager Paul Holder added a fifth. The Knights rallied with two late goals by Tim Whincup.

Man of the match winners were Whincup and Miles Dale for the Knights, with hat-trick hero Dan Simpson for Union Rovers.

Heslerton Reserves beat first division Slingsby 3-1. Phil Horton fired Heslerton into the lead on the half-hour mark. Jermaine Timms scored early in the second-half to double his side’s lead. Brent Wilson scored with a rare header to get Slingsby back into the game, but Heslerton’s Dan Blanchard scored to restore his side’s two-goal advantage.

Man of the match winners were Andy Norman (Heslerton) and Paul Richardson (Slingsby).

In the third round, Duncombe Park had to switch their game to Bagby & Balk, but still managed to win a seven-goal thriller. Park took a two-goal first-half lead with goals by Jack Young and Jack Chadwick. James Parkinson pulled a goal back for Bagby & Balk, but Chadwick hit a beautiful strike from outside the penalty area to restore his sides two-goal advantage prior to half-time.

A second Parkinson goal plus one from Darren Bell saw the scores level with 20 minutes of the game remaining. However, Park got their act together again with Chadwick completing his hat-trick.

Man of the match winners were James Parkinson (Bagby & Balk) and hat-trick hero Jack Chadwick for Duncombe Park, who are now through to the semi-finals.
