SCARBOROUGH Athletic are up to third place in the first division north in the Evo-Stik League after coming from a goal down to beat Prescot Cables 2-1.

Boro hit a post via a Gary Bradshaw header and had another shot cleared off the line, yet it was the visitors who took the lead through Sam Calvert’s header two minutes before half-time.

The Seadogs got on top in the second half, though, and got due reward late on.

Bradshaw equalised with seven minutes remaining, before an injury time penalty, netted by Jordan Thewlis, gave them the spoils.

Scarborough travel to Ashington on Saturday in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Ashington needed penalties to beat North Shields in the last round after the game ended 4-4 following extra time. The shoot-out ended in a 4-2 success.

Last night (Tuesday) the Seadogs were at Ossett Town in the league.
