BROOKLYN Under-16s stormed into the York Minor League U16s Cup semi-finals with a comfortable 6-2 victory over second division high-fliers Aviva.

Brooklyn, mid-table in division one, twice went behind either side of Ryan Gaughan's headed goal from a Marcus Brigham corner.

But Arron Dews equalised with a cracking shot from the edge of the box and the hosts took control with a storming second-half performance, which brought further goals by Matthew Watson (2), Dews and James Barrett.

The star player was Lewis Botham.

Pickering Town U12s put in one of their best performances of the season to win 4-0 at Scarborough & District Minor League title rivals Burlington Jackdaws.

The hosts began brightly and forced a notable save from Matthew Ridley but Town got into the game and the excellent Jack Balderson gave them the lead with a sharp finish.

Two minutes into the second half, Tom Wright, after a one-two with George Ridler, fired in the second.

Jackdaws thereafter pushed forward leaving space in behind and Pikes caught them on the counter - Wright crossing for Jordan Anderson to head home and then Anderson outpacing the defence to add a well-taken fourth.

Harry Coldbeck, Owen Ellis and Luke Shepherd gave strong performances at the back.

Two late goals condemned Brooklyn U11s to a 3-2 defeat at Rawcliffe Warriors - but it mattered little as they had already secured promotion as runners-up in the York & Ryedale Minor League third division.

Brooklyn started well until Rawcliffe broke clear to chip keeper Billy Chapman. The visitors, though, battled hard and scored either side of half-time through Eden Cross, tapping in at the far post after good work by Billy Leech and man-of-the-match Lewis Saunders, and Saunders, with a great individual effort.

Saunders also saw a great effort - a potential goal-of-the-season contender - hit a post.

With five minutes left, Rawcliffe broke clear to equalise and they won it as a long shot caught Chapman off his line.

Brooklyn U7s finished their season with an entertaining end-to-end game against Easingwold.

Chris Hudson, the Brooklyn manager, has been delighted with the progress of the team and said: "It's going to be difficult to choose award winners at the end of the season because everyone has done so well and improved tremendously."
