OLD Malton St Mary’s Under-10s edged York RI 3-2 in their final home league game of the York Mitchell League division season.

With a couple of players missing, the Old Malton team knew that they had to play at their best to triumph.

Nathan Dolphin gave them the lead during the first half when, for a second week in a row, he scored direct from a corner - the visiting goalkeeper only parrying his cross into the net.

Dolphin netted again in the second half from Josh Mann’s through ball, finishing coolly into the bottom corner.

York RI kept battling and pulled a goal back but Malton increased their lead to 3-1 when Dolphin beat his man and pulled a fine pass back to Mann, who powered home from 10 yards.

York RI scored again late on but Saints held on to deservedly take the spoils.

The friendly game between the teams saw Old Malton triumph 5-1, Dolphin scoring a terrific hat-trick including a great header from a Mann cross.

Usual goalkeeper Seb Allen-Swallow got a run in midfield and scored two well-taken goals.

Dolphin was pipped to the man-of-the-morning accolade by the tireless Mann.

Pickering Town U10s produced one of their best performances of the season to defeat Haxby Town Blues 2-0 in York Mitchell League division five.

Strong defensive displays from Alex Vasey, Ben Hugill and Harvey Dixon provided the platform, and goals from Charlie Monkman and Matty Cooper secured the victory.

George Hodgson also put in a good show and Aidan Stephens was the man of the match.

Dylan Edwards scored twice as Kirkbymoorside U10s drew 3-3 at Hunmanby in the Scarborough & District League.

Robert Farnell got the Moorsiders’ other goal.
