Travelling companions Brian Scott and Ken Dalton had things their own way in the opening round of Malton & Norton AC’s evening series, finishing first and second respectively at Buzzers Pond, Kirkbymoorside, last Monday.

Scott opted for a pole and paste approach, attracting 15lb 4oz of carp, while Dalton went with pole and pellet to account for 8lb 4oz of carp, skimmers and rudd.

The dynamic duo went into action again on Sunday, fishing round four of Malton’s summer series on the Aire & Calder Canal at Pollington.

Scott again led the way, taking a winning 10lb 13oz to Dalton’s runners-up net of 8lb 11oz. Both anglers utilised the pole at 10 metres with pinkie for bait, catching skimmers to 12oz apiece, plus small perch and roach.

Gerald Chalk made it two wins in a row in the York Midweek series, this time taking a healthy 79lb from peg 13 on the Horseshoe at Raker Lakes.

Floating the 20-metre pole out to far bank features with cat food for bait, he took lots of quality ide and carp.

John Coates was also up to speed, taking 77lb 8oz off peg six on the identical method and bait to that of the winner.

Martin Russell rattled out 40lb 10oz in only two and a half hours to win Wykeham Fishery’s Tuesday evening open on the match lake.

Alternating between the seven and 11-metre pole lines with pellet on the hook, he netted three carp plus numerous crucian carp and skimmers.

Paul Dawson was best of the rest with 21lb 4oz off peg 32.

Claire Adams led the way with 8lb 13oz in Scarborough Mere AC’s latest women’s match, bagging a brace of carp with ground bait feeder and sweetcorn tactics at peg 32 in the Yacht pond.

Penny Tyler was a close second at peg nine, recording 6lb 6oz.

Great Edstone’s Dave Collinson had a clear-cut win in the York Angling Association fixture on Beverley Beck, locating 18lb of bream on pole and pinkie tactics at peg 12.

York Tackle Shop proprietor Dave Wood filled second place with a catch of small fish weighing 7lb 13oz.

Huttons Ambo Angling Club start their evening series at Birkdale Lakes, Terrington, next Wednesday (May 23), with the draw taking place on the bank at 5.30pm. Club cards, priced £8, are available on the night or can be purchased from the Post Office at Huttons Ambo.
