RYEDALE martial arts aces Joseph Rowland, Joe Thomson and Maisie Thomson returned with medals from the Amateur Martial Arts (AMA) Association open international karate championships in Sheffield.
The trio of Malton School pupils, all of whom train with the Driffield & Wetwang Karate Academy, were against fierce competition from overseas, including squads from Germany, Italy, Malta, India, Ukraine, Georgia, Romania and Scotland, as well as England.
But Rowland, 14, and 16-year-old Joe won bronze medals and Maisie, 14, did even better with a silver, all in the kuma (fighting) discipline.
Maisie also got through to the final round in kata and was placed fourth.
