Ryedale Sports Club returned from Newlands Park on Saturday with a share of the Scarborough & District League division one spoils – though with a little luck it could have been all three points.

Ryedale took the lead after 10 minutes through Matty Bower and, although Paddy Mancrief equalised with a header for Newlands, SC regained the lead before half-time through Adam Hornby and Chris Rhodes doubled the advantage early in the second half.

However, Newlands came back to snatch a point with goals in the last 15 minutes by Jamie Gallagher and Sam Chambers.

Edgehill remain top after a 5-1 win against Filey Town. Cameron Dobson put Filey ahead but Edgehill quickly recovered from the shock and went on to win thanks to goals by Ricky Greening (2), Paul Allick, Alex Bowman and and Martyn Ferrey.

Second-placed West Pier thrashed hosts Fishburn Park Reserves 9-2 - after drawing 1-1 at half-time.

Lee Brennan fired Fishburn Park ahead, but Neil Thomas equalised and, with the wind advantage after the break, they went clear through Paul Provins (2) and Tommy Barker. Substitutes Mikey Barker (3) and Mikey Hartnett (2) then went goal crazy in the last 10 minutes. Brennan scored Park’s second.

Eastfield St James moved back up to third after a 5-3 comeback win at Ayton.

The hosts cruised into a three-goal lead through Scott Eccles, Alex Hamilton and Howard Carter but Eastfield came back with an outstanding second-half performance and goals by Ady Blake, Matty Drury, Damien Devine, Nathan Till and Nick Hegarty.

Hunmanby United moved up a place after a brilliant 4-1 win at Scalby with goals by Matty Chapman (3) and Tom Rees. Sean Scales replied.

Rillington Athletic lost 2-0 at Filey Town Reserves in division two, Jonny Hunter and Lee Lambert the first-half scorers.

Rillington’s man of the match was Mark Craig at full-back.

Whitby Fishermen’s Society beat basement side West Pier Reserves 6-0 away with goals by man-of-the-match Mark Swales, the former Pickering Town player, Steve Swales, Karl Storr, and Danny Winspear.

Snainton were the top scorers of the day when they thrashed Scalby Reserves 13-0 in division three thanks to goals by Lee Drydale (5), Jon Davies (3), Liam Cooper (3), Liam Cumming and an own goal. This win lifts Snainton to second.

Leaders Faslgrave remain unbeaten after they beat Cayton Corinthians Reserves 4-2, Richard Tolliday and Mikey Anderson scoring two apiece.
