CHAMPION jockey Paul Hanagan will be one of the star attractions at the Middleham Stables Open Day.

The popular event, which is being held on Good Friday, is featuring a series of attractive afternoon events as well as the traditional Open Stables morning.

These include a star-studded question and answer session on the Low Moor, featuring top trainers Mark Johnston and Ferdy Murphy, as well as the legendary Jack Berry MBE. Malton rider Hanagan, pictured, is a guest of honour.

Each year, the successful training yards of Middleham are thrown open to horse-racing enthusiasts. More than 6,000 people attended in 2010 and more than £14,000 was raised for local charities.

The yards are open to the public from 9.30am until 1pm. Free parking is available in Middleham or nearby Leyburn, with free bus links between car parks and the outlying stables. Admission is £7 in advance for adults or £8 at the gate. Children under-12 are admitted free.

A special Wensleydale Railway train leaves Leeming Bar at 8am. Please ring 08454 50 54 74 for further details.

In addition, Ann and George Duffield are opening their successful Sun Hill Stables at Constable Burton from noon until 4.30pm.
