RYEDALE Sports Club moved to within three points of Scarborough & District League division two leaders Edgehill Reserves after thumping bottom side Cayton Corinthians Reserves 7-1.

Marc Dobson hit a hat-trick and Adam Hornby (2), Ben Thompson and Chris Rhodes also netted.

Seamer Sports had a shock 5-2 home defeat to Eastfield Reserves, with Eric Hall (2), Luke Purvis, Andy Cox and Stuart Hollingsworth the victors’ marksmen. Sean Kelly and Joe Turner replied.

Division one leaders Edgehill beat 10-man Ayton 5-3.

Ayton had Daz Hastie sent off in only the second minute for handball on the goalline and, although the penalty was saved, Edgehill went on to score through Ricky Greening, who had missed the spot-kick, Aaron Jenkins, Jamie Patterson, Leigh Watson and Danny Jones.

Chris McNeill, Danny Stevens and Howard Carter netted for the Ayton battlers.

Second-placed West Pier beat lowly Hunmanby United 6-0 thanks to goals from Neil Thomas (2), Micky Hartnett (2), Tommy Barker and Jamie Bradshaw.

Heslerton drew 2-2 with FC Filey with goals from Jonny McGough and Chris Ryan.
