Helmsley teenager Jade Hutchinson was among the podium finishers in the Castle Howard Triathlon.

Hundreds of athletes tested their endurance levels at an event, held in the shadow of one of North Yorkshire’s most famous stately homes, which also raised some funds for the Help For Heroes charity.

Hutchinson finished second in the girls’ 13 to 15-year-old class, being the only Ryedale runner to finish in the top three in any of the six categories, although Scarborough provided second and third places in the ‘Brideshead Sprint Individual Adult’ class, in Chris Duck and Kevin Moment, while York had a number of top-three finishers.

All three are part of the club’s East Yorkshire Championship-winning side of 2009-10, and they all completed their first triathlon with respectable times.
