Bagby & Balk were the only victors in the RJF Homes Beckett League first division on Saturday, with rival teams involved in cup ties.

Bagby moved up to sixth place with a 3-1 home win against Sinnington after previously being bottom.

Don Whitelaw scored a first-half goal before Martin Kendel doubled his side’s lead. Jonathan Campbell scored for the Sinners but Ben Gilbank’s cross was deflected in to make it 3-1.

Darren Bell won the man-of-the-match award for Bagby and Adam Stephens received the accolade for Sinnington.

Huntington beat Rillington Athletic reserves 2-1 to go top of the second division after Jamie Deans and an own goal gave them a 2-0 lead. Dave Thompson pulled a goal back for Rillington.

Second-placed Bay Horse beat Ryedale SC reserves 2-1 with Sam Clayton and Ryan Davidson scoring for Bay. Matty Gardner scored for Ryedale.

Both sides finished with 10 men – Ryedale’s Phil Brough and Bay Horse’s Dave McManus being sent off.

The men of the match were 16-year-old Mark Williams, who was solid at centre-back for Ryedale, and Sam Clayton for Bay Horse.

Union Rovers 2nds’ 3-1 victory at Ampleforth was helped by Callum Dent and Stuart Ellis giving Rovers a 2-0 lead. Ben Leach scored for Ampleforth before Dent scored his second to send Rovers above their opposition in the table.

Leach received Ampleforth’s man-of-the-match award with Dent receiving Rovers’.

Duncombe Park beat Thorton-le-Dale reserves 3-1 with goals from Alex Shields (2) and Nick Allenby. Josh Evans scored for Dale.

Shields was man of the match for Park, Martin Welford winning the award for Dale.

Amotherby & Swinton 3rds recorded their second league win of the season when they beat Gillamoor reserves 4-1 at home.

Man-of-the-match Liam Rapp scored twice for the hosts either side of an Andrew Claughton equaliser, and two quick second-half goals, from Chris Smales and Jamie Kerrison, killed the game.

Josh Tateson later hit the bar for Gillamoor, whose top performer was Peter Horner.

Gillamoor held a minute’s silence before kick off in memory of Ryedale schoolgirl Lois Phelps, whose brother Tom usually plays for Gillamoor along with cousin Andrew Claughton.

In the Gordon Harrison Memorial Trophy first round, the all-first division clash between Union Rovers and Heslerton saw Rovers prevail 2-0. After a goalless first half, Union won the game with strikes from Dean Richardson and Anthony Carr. Man of the match for Rovers was Lee Dunning.
