RYEDALE D took full advantage of Amotherby A’s cancelled match against Swinton with a flawless display in the Ryedale Table Tennis League Division One.

They romped to victory over Ryedale B’s Mike Fenby, Joe Suchecki and Zdzislaw Strawczynski 10-0 after an all-around display from Chris Gamble, Andy Paton and Ilhoo lhondghomoilhoo.

Ryedale A won their match but couldn’t close the gap on the leaders as they scrapped home 6-4 against their ‘C’ team.

John Flintoft and Barbara Kearney remained undefeated but Mike Perry, playing up, failed to register, leaving the door open for Titch Temple, Ruth Purseglove and Jan Bryan to win one each and take the doubles.

In Division Two, Rillington A pulled a rabbit out of the hat to defeat title contenders Ryedale E.

A solid team display saw Phil Horton and Dan Stansfield win two each with a single for Chris Needham.

Fighting to stay in the game, both Ed Wardman and Andrew Dent won a brace each before Horton/Stansfield took the win with the doubles.

After a bad run of results, Amotherby B got back to winning ways 6-4 over Ryedale F thanks to star man Daniel Zajaczkowski’s treble and a brace for Josh Blakeston.

But with Nick Knight drawing a blank, Alan Kimber’s brace and Eddie Prest and Mike Askham’s single kept them in the game until crashing out in the doubles.

Rillington B couldn’t match their teammates as they went down 8-2 against Ryedale G, who secured the points with a treble from Rob Williams and a brace apiece for Roger Wilkinson and Ian Hutchison.

With Chris Bown and Keiran Leckenby overwhelmed, it was left to Greg Welburn-Kelly to salvage a couple of points.

Westow took a pounding at Division Three neighbours Bishop Wilton going down in a whimper 10-0.

James Leonard, Tony Fuller and Kevin Prime were all victorious against Sara Winn-Darley, Colin Payne and Nick Knight.

Amotherby E’s Barbara Johnson was thankful for teammates Alan Mitchell and Barry Sunley for remaining unbeaten taking on Rillington C.

Six single wins put them in a winning position as Sarah Barrett, Steve Ellis and Stuart Elvidge could only win one game each, with Mitchell/Sunley taking the doubles for a 7-3 victory.
