SURREY have reached tea on day two at Scarborough at 174-5 from 55 overs.

The visitors, replying to Yorkshire’s 342, lost three wickets in the afternoon as this Specsavers County Championship match hangs in the balance.

Ben Coad, Tim Bresnan and Steve Patterson struck this afternoon. 

Coad had Rory Burns caught behind for 59 before Bresnan had Patel caught low down at first slip for 32, leaving Surrey at 140-4 after 42 overs.

And just before tea, short-term South African overseas batsman Theunis de Bruyn edged captain Patterson behind for 38 with 172 on the board.

Ollie Pope and Will Jacks are currently unbeaten in the early stages of their innings.
