TERRINGTON Glory's battle to claw their way clear of the drop zone in the York Minster Engineering League premier division was dented again at the weekend.

The Ryedale side lost 1-0 at home to Copmanthorpe to remain fourth bottom of the table, a goal from club stalwart Terry Hibbert being enough to give mid-table Cop the spoils.

Right-back Alan Goforth was Glory's man of the match.

Defending champions Old Malton St Mary’s, who were on county cup duty, saw their lead at the top cut to six points as Riccall United leapfrogged Dunnington into second place after beating them 1-0.

Ian Beckram got the only goal of the game between second and third.

The fourth team with title hopes, Tadcaster Magnets, had no game.

St Mary's meet the Magnets this coming Saturday in the league's game of the day.

Brooklyn were on cloud nine as they bolstered their bid for promotion from division one.

The Malton men brushed aside bottom-placed Hamilton Panthers 9-0 to go level on points in second place with neighbours Malton & Norton.

Marcus Godsell led the way with five strikes, while David Thompson added a brace. Ryan Boyd and Steven Clay completed the scoring.

M&N dropped two points when being held 1-1 at St Clements, allowing F1 Racing to move eight points clear at the top with a 3-0 victory over Cliffe.

Kirkbymoorside's promotion challenge in division three stuttered as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Huby United - only the second time this season that they had dropped points.

Hosts Huby United dug in to gain a point thanks to goals by Ewan McNab and Dave Adams. Alex Strickland and Bradley Magson struck for Kirkbymoorside.

Chris Bowles, Darren Brandon, John Cavanagh and Nathan Spreckley were all on target as Stamford Bridge as they ran out 4-2 winners over Selby Olympia.

In division four, Settrington fell 7-3 at Huntington WMC, who moved up to third place on goal difference. It was 3-3 at the break, Setty responding well to Daniel Hunter's second hat-trick in successive weeks.

The second half was all Huntington though, goals from Jamie Kirby (2), Tom George and Shane Bogg settling the outcome.

In reserve 'A', Robert Peel netted for Old Malton St Mary's reserves against their Wigginton Grasshoppers counterparts as they were level at 1-1 at half-time.

Hoppers coasted to a 5-1 victory though, their marksmen being James Sutton, Rob Orr, Dave Hartas, Jack Thompson and Dan Welborn.

Brooklyn reserves and Malton & Norton reserves both lost at home to high-flying visitors in reserve 'B'.

Thorpe United reserves won 2-1 at the former and Church Fenton White Horse's seconds won 3-1 at the latter. Goals from substitutes Adam Beavers (2) and Ben Jones gave White Horse spoils after Callum Holmes had netted for M&N.
