KIRKBYMOORSIDE ace Dan Peace came of age on Sunday with an outstanding ride to beat a strong field of experts at Scarborough District Motor Club's trial at a dry but cold Harwood Dale.

Reigning British Youth 'A' Trials champion Peace finished on only 10 marks lost, with Whitby's Andy Chilton second on 28, and Tom Minta third way down on 54.

Peace enjoyed a fantastic first lap when dropping only one mark - a long-legged dab to help him keep the lively Gas Gas bike down on the huge, wicked undercut step of the second section.

Beta riders Chilton and Ian Austermuhle, from Malton, hit this section spot-on, firing out clean, but it stopped both Jack Peace, Dan's younger brother, and Michael Todd.

The steep climb over roots out of the river of section five cut up, costing Peace a five-second lap and a dab on the third.

Chilton cleaned superbly his first two visits but failed the last two laps.

The confident Peace stamped his authority on the event on the towering rock climb of section nine which he hit perfectly on every lap to remain feet up.

Only Chilton stayed in single figures here, with all the other experts suffering a dreaded maximum.
