PICKERING’S Colin Frank scored a crucial 74 to see Yorkshire 50+ through to the quarter-finals of the ECB 50+ County Championship.

The unbeaten Tykes beat Cambridgeshire by 81 runs to set up a last-eight match at home to Essex on Sunday, August 10.

Yorkshire 50+ captain Steve Wales praised Frank, inset, saying: “He batted very well. If he was to bat for 45 overs then he would get a double-century.”

Yorkshire made 286-6 from their 45 overs, with only Dunnington’s Kevin Bradley (76) out-scoring Frank.

The White Rose bowling attack then reduced Cambridgeshire to 205-8.

Wales said of the knockout ties to come: “The sides we play now are all quality cricketers. On the day, it’s about how you perform. We’re a hardworking outfit and we’re determined to give it a very good go.”

The venue of the quarter-final is to be confirmed, but Scarborough’s North Marine Road is a possibility.
