ERIC WATERS' team from Kirkbymoorside swept all before them to win Helmsley Bowling Club's annual Whistle Stop competition.

The tournament, sponsored by Cropton Garage, was held on Sunday and saw 20 teams from across North Yorkshire compete throughout the day, each playing five games of 35 minutes each.

Waters' rink won every game to finish first. Second were M Dawson's team from Guisborough Priory, third were Bernie Andrews' outfit from the host Helmsley club, and fourth was J Myers' team from Kirkbymoorside.
