A COME-FROM-BEHIND draw was not enough to save Seamer Sports from relegation to division two of the Scarborough & District League.

Seamer drew 3-3 at home to Ayton on the last weekend of the league season but finished next to bottom to go down with Ryedale Sports Club.

Ayton, who rested a few players ahead of their Harbour Cup final on Monday, strolled into a three-goal lead through Tyson Stubbings (2) and Dan Peel.

Seamer came back to grab a point with goals by Matty Forsyth, Dan Jewitt and Jamie Hartley.

However, Whitby Fishermen climbed away from danger thanks to 2-1 win over third-placed West Pier.

Pier took the lead after 10 minutes as Paul Provins scored, but the Fishermen scored twice in the second half through Neil Hart and Sam Bailey.

Fishermen, still with a game to play, are now fourth bottom with Falsgrave third bottom.

Runners-up Edgehill finished their campaign with a 3-0 win at Hunmanby United courtesy of goals by regular marksman Ricky Greening (2), the former Pickering Town favourite, and Andy Noon.

Eastfield St James could not raise a team to meet champions Newlands Park.

In the second division, Sleights edged United Sports Bar 3-2 - but USB were already assured of second place, with Sleights third.

Sleights took a two-goal lead through Ryan Rose and Jake Faichney, with USB pulling a goal back through Tom Williamson just before the break. A second Rose goal restored his side's two-goal advantage before Charles Battye hit back again.

Newlands Park reserves beat Snainton 9-2 with goals by Adam Stride (3), Matty Stone (2), Matt Griffiths (2), and James Tadman (2). The Snainton marksmen were James Wilson and Liam Mintoft.

Division three winners Whitby RUFC hammered Athletico 2B 12-1 with Paul Jobling leading the way with five goals.

Steven Ross (3), Marc Usher (2), Colin Swales and Paul Kilpatririck added to the tally, all after Steve Kirkup had put the visitors ahead.
