COURSE record holder Jayson Cavill held onto his title at Glaisdale Rigg - despite a nasty fall on a break-neck descent to the finish.
The Pickering Running Club (PRC) champion was first across the line in 60 minutes 17 seconds at the ninemile fell race and was taken straight to hospital to stitch the wounds.
Despite the fine conditions, all runners competing on Sunday found the course hard-going with tough miles across boggy and wet moorland.
Next across the finishing line for Pickering was Cavill’s brother-in-law, Russ Grayson, who has made a rapid improvement since starting running last year, finishing 30th in 74-42.
Not far behind was off-road veteran Nick Cousins, who ran consistently hard to clock 77-17.
In-form Kim England put in a strong performance to finish in 77-55 as first Pickering lady. Mike Wilson, in his fell running comeback, clocked 80-45, while Sue Slack (90-26) clinched a category prize.
