New Globe ‘Z’ take over top spot in Malton & Norton Darts League

Globe ‘Z’ went into the match three points adrift of leaders Derwent Arms ‘B’ but their 6-2 victory over their rivals moved them ahead by one point going into the final round of fixtures.

A Dawson opened the scoring with legs of 18 and 19 darts, which included a 136 outshot, and Billy Hague hit a 15-dart leg on the way to his individual win.

Graham Steel was the sole individual winner for Derwent ‘B’, but when Hague and Phil Bointon checked out from 701 in just 22 darts, it left the Derwent side downcast.

New Globe ‘A’ rose out of the drop zone, just one point from survival, as they relegated Royal Oak ‘A’ with a 5-3 victory.

Third-placed Derwent Arms ‘G’ all but relegated Bright Steels after winning 7-1 with Paul Twamley hitting a 180.

Royal Oak ‘B’ beat Derwent Arms ‘A’ 5-3 to stay fourth.

The men’s ‘B’ league is similarly tight, as Derwent Arms ‘C’ hold a slender one-point lead at the top after beating Gate Inn 6-2 while second-placed Union drew 4-4 with Hyde Park.

Paul Render helped Railway Club to a 7-1 win against bottom side Derwent Arms ‘W’ with an 18-dart leg, with Frazer Lumley hitting a 180 for Derwent.

New Globe ‘B’ ended Derwent Arms ‘X’s realistic hopes of promotion with a 5-3 win.

New Globe ‘B’ and New Globe ‘C’ are locked together on 82 points at the top of the ladies’ league.

Globe ‘C’ lost 5-3 to Royal Oak ‘C’ and Globe ‘B’ took advantage as they beat Gate Inn 5-3 with tons from Sue Selby and Carrie Render.

Carmen Lawrence shone with scores of 116, 100 and a 104 finish as New Globe ‘X’ beat Union 6-2.

New Globe ‘A’ put themselves back in the running for a trophy as they beat Royal Oak ‘A’ twice, 6-2 and 7-1.

Royal Oak ‘B’ beat Derwent Arms 6-2.

Meanwhile, Recreation Club beat the Sun Inn 4-0 in the semi-finals in the Pickering League’s team knockout.

Graham Love, with the help of a 180, got Rec off to a winning start, then Steve Taylor stepped up with a great 16-darter including a maximum plus a 137 to put them 2-0 ahead.

Solid games from Phil Bointon and Al Dawson secured victory.

Horseshoe ‘A’ joined Recreation Club in the final by beating Black Swan 4-1.

Tony Barber with legs of 21 and 23 darts, including scores of 140, 125, 100 and a 72 finish, put Shoe ahead.

Karl Wallis levelled with four 100s, a 125 and a 58 finish for legs of 24 and 20 darts. But Graham Steel gave Shoe a 2-1 lead, rounding off his win with a 60 finish for a 21-dart leg, Billy Hague overcame Simmy Cass 2-0 and Nick Cass wrapped up victory.

Moors League leaders White Swan cleaned up for the second consecutive week as they blitzed Buck Inn ‘B’ 10-0.

Eddie Craggs (140, 137, 3x100) again led the line while Tim Nichols (135, 100), Paul Carter (90 finish) and Keith Eddon (89 finish) made notable contributions.

Moors Inn and New Inn, in second and third, played out a tense match which stood at 4-3 to New Inn after the singles.

Nie Monkman (2x140, 100), Sarah Hodgson (140, 4x100), Al Hodgson (100, 70 finish) and Andy Waines (2x100) won for New Inn with Sam Dickson, Andy Tock and Mick Barnes (100) replying.

New Inn took both pairs legs but lost the three-a-side to record a 6-4 victory.

Jim Blacklock threw a 180 for Crown Inn as they beat Buck Inn ‘A’ 7-3, winning all the pairs and threes.

Vic Worral provided the main resistance for Buck, hitting three ton-plus scores as he beat Vicki Cheney (120) in the opening leg.

Mike Dale hit a 140 for Coach House ‘A’ as they recovered from 4-3 down to beat Blacksmiths Arms ‘A’ 6-4.

Jimmy Porter and Trev Dale also won for House with Alan Wass (120), Rich Sellars (100), Mally Durrant (100) and Lucy Sellars (100) responding for Blacksmiths.
