Malton’s Yorkshire League team fell 18-8 at home to Chapel Allerton III.
Malt’s only win came from Simon Middleton, although Joe Woodhead and Andy Phillips went close, both losing 3-2. The team are seventh in division one.
In the York & District League, Malton I secured maximum points with a 20-2 victory over University Students I and moved up into fourth place in division one.
Malt’s winners were Mike Catling, Woodhead, Jonathan Everitt, Phillips and Terry Wilson.
Malton II beat Heslington I 15-9, with wins from Jimmy Mason, Andy Rising and Phil Wilford. The team are sixth in division three.
Malton IV had a mixed week. They lost 15-7 at Stillington IV, Jon Pitkin and Sue Preston getting wins, but beat Selby V 17-10 in a close match at home, with Kevin Goddard clinching the victory with a hard-fought 3-2 success.
The team’s other winners were Pitkin and Mike Hammond, and the result lifted them back up to second in division four.
In the Ladies League, Malton I lost 20-3 to York I, but still rose off the bottom of division one.
Helen Craggs fought valiantly but narrowly missed out on a win, losing 10-8 in the final game after levelling from two games down.
