1:59pm Wednesday 12th February 2014 in Sport
Colin McNeil returned to winning ways on Sunday, putting a very respectable 42lb 12oz on the scales to finish on top in the Black Horses match on the Acorn at Raker Lakes.
Fishing the long pole up to the bush on the peninsular at peg 13 with either sweetcorn, meat or paste for bait, he attracted carp to the 5lb mark.
Paul Neil fished up to the near bank bush at peg three with the pole and secured second place with 34lb 8oz of carp.
A carp of 4lb 13oz helped Kev Ellis into top spot in Sunday’s Scarborough Mere AC match in the Yacht Pond.
Offering maggot on the eight-metre pole at peg two, he topped up with roach to end the day with 9lb 4oz.
Paul Malton was best of the rest with 5lb 4oz from peg 26.
A net of ground bait feeder-caught carp totalling 34lb sealed victory for Gary Mine in Sunday’s Tri-Star AC match at Rosedale Fishery and ensured he stayed at the top of the league table on 70 points, 14 points clear of his nearest adversaries, Paul Cresswell and Chris Sill.
Phil Roberts finished well clear of the field in last Tuesday’s Westland’s AC match on the Horseshoe at Raker Lakes with a net of 37lb 8oz.
Offering pellet on both the 11 and 13-metre pole lines at peg 18, he located six small carp for around 10lb plus a good helping of skimmers up to the 2lb mark.
Mick Mathews took second place off peg 10 with 17lb 12oz.
John Haw led the way the following day on the Horseshoe, weighing-in with 23lb 4oz to win the York midweek match.
Sitting at peg 10 and offering pellet on the pole, he took an all-skimmer catch. Jim Pearson was second with 17lb 8oz from peg 14.
Mathews went one better on Friday, top scoring in Westland’s AC match on the Dog Bone Lake with 31lb 8oz. Fishing across to the far bank with long pole and pellet at peg 10, he netted lots of F1s to the 1lb mark.
Terry Tierney took runners-up spot from peg 18 with 31lb.
