RYEDALE star Richard Buck was part of a record-breaking Great Britain and Northern Ireland 400 metres relay quartet in Glasgow.

Buck teamed up with Luke Lennon-Ford, Conrad Williams and Nigel Levine at the weekend as they beat the reigning Olympic champions the Bahamas, who were representing a Commonwealth Select side, at the Sainsbury’s Glasgow International Match.

Buck, the former Lady Lumley’s School pupil in Pickering, ran the second leg as GB clocked a stadium record of three minutes 6.27 seconds and hailed a “great win” for the quartet.

The relay success was one of 13 wins for British athletes at the Emirates Arena in a curtain raiser to the indoor season.

GB finished on 59 points, three behind the victorious Commonwealth side. The USA were third with 53 points, 13 ahead of Scotland.
