Talented new Gas Gas signing Dan Peace again posted the best score of the day among a field of top class experts when Northallerton District Motor Club held their trial at Low Cow Helm, Chopgate, on Sunday.

The Kirkbymoorside teenager’s only losses came at the expert-only gully and the rocky climb of section six, where he dropped three and five marks respectively.

He took the youth ‘A’ victory ahead of younger brother Jack.

Severe weather just before the start of the trial had given clerk of course Bill Pye no option but to cut the event around this spectacular rugged moorland to two laps of 12 sections for the entry of 100 riders. But it was still very successful.

Malton man Ian Austermuhle – back in action after wrist injury – lost ground in the experts class when bailing off for a five on the 11th section of the first lap.

He ended up finishing third, Richmond’s Richard Sadler the winner.

Dave Wardell, from Pickering, was fourth in clubman ‘B’, missing out on a podium place on the most cleans rule after finishing level on marks with Yarm’s Henry Suddes.
