The Feversham League are keen to hear from potential new clubs to help evening cricket survive the flourish in rural North Yorkshire.

The league hold their annual general meeting on Thursday, March 14, at 8.15pm at the Helmsley Sports and Social Club.

League secretary Charles Allenby would welcome enquiries from any club interested in joining for the 2013 season. He can be contacted at 7 West Close, Swinton, Malton, YO17 6SZ, by phone on 01653 694648 or by emailing allenbywestclose@ googlemail.com.

At the end-of-season league meeting in October, the five member clubs – Duncombe Park, Gillamoor, High Farndale, Slingsby and Spout House – indicated a willingness to again enter a team in 2013.

Allenby said: “While many consider there to be a significant lack of interest in evening cricket nowadays, it is more important than ever that the historic Feversham League defies such pessimism by continuing to provide an opportunity for aspiring young local cricketers to enjoy the friendly and enthusiastic environment for which the League has a deserved reputation.”

• Ebberston CC are holding sessions at the Northern Leisure Centre, in Pickering, on Tuesdays throughout February, from 6.45pm to 7.45pm. All players, young and old, are welcome to attend and get fit for cricket through tutoring from qualified coach Keith Simpson.
