I’M writing this letter in the hope I might get some support from the people of Pickering to help keep our streets clean of dog mess.
I have lived in Pickering all my life and have never seen the problem so bad. Why do some people with dogs think it is not their responsibility to clear up after their dogs?
There are plenty of people with dogs who do, but do those who don’t actually realise the danger of dogs mess?
I am a mum with three small children desperate to have a nice walk out without dodging dog mess with my pushchair or trying to get my two children who are walking to avoid it.
You can’t even go out of your own front door without risk that one of your children is going to stand in some. How can anybody stand outside someone’s house and just let their dog do that?
More than anything, I love going for walks and I love living in Pickering. It is up to every one of us to keep our town tidy and nice.
I had someone who doesn’t live here say to me the other day how bad Pickering was for dog mess.
It shouldn’t be left for other people or the council to clean this mess up.
It’s simple – if you have a dog, you are responsible, you look after your dog and clean up after it.
MRS A MAUD, Pickering
