I RECENTLY spent a few days in North Yorkshire, primarily visiting friends in York, my former home city, then, on Friday, March 14, to Thornton-le-Dale to see an old friend, stopping en route in Pickering.

In Pickering, I unfortunately had a bad fall in the Coop car park. I was so thankful to be helped by one very kind woman and an elderly couple, who stayed to see if I could drive my car before leaving. Despite considerable pain I was able to drive and continued to my friend’s, but was admitted to Scarborough Hospital overnight following x-ray and medication.

I felt I must write a sincere word of thanks to the people who helped me and also to the staff of the hospital (Cherry Ward) and the Beansheaf Hotel, Malton Road, for their kindness. I am still in considerable pain when I walk, but I was amazed to be able to drive myself back home to Leicester on the Sunday.

Other people helped me in an A1 service station near Doncaster, so I was very fortunate to meet so many kind people in lovely North Yorkshire. Thank you so much to all concerned. I look forward to returning again soon.
