THE town councils of Norton and Malton have each agreed to contribute £3,440 towards fitting heritage-style lighting columns and lanterns on the County Bridge.
The total cost of the work is £14,880, members of Malton Town Council were told, which will see eight columns put up on the bridge.
Councillors are also asking Ryedale District Council to help fund the highways scheme.
Town clerk Mike Skehan said: “The bridge is an important landmark for the whole of Ryedale, not just Norton and Malton.”
