Tell us your reaction to the council's decision and your ideas for the campaign below:
My grateful thanks for the positive support from the Gazette.
What really annoys me is that Malton/Norton 'sphere of influence' was recommended by Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Sports Council, pre 1975, to have an indoor dry sports centre by 1981...
In 1986 Ryedale District Council agreed to construct three sports halls, one each for Northern, Central and Southern Ryedale. This policy was agreed by all political groups.
In 1987/8 Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre became a reality - after opportunism by the County & District Council. The residents of Malton / Norton and District have been paying towards Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre ever since and will continue to do so - even if Malton and district don't get the long-awaited centre.!!!Do the Conservatives on Ryedale District Council think that is fair?
In 1989/90 the stadium at Monks Cross was built in partnership with York Rugby Leaque Club...
Neither, Northern Ryedale Leisure Centre nor the stadium at Monks Cross had been thought about in 1975...
I am wondering what John Greenway MP thinks - after being reported in the G&H of 20th June 1996, as saying: ' This is exactly the sort of scheme the grants committee wants to see - I will be pushing for it all the way' Unfortunately, that proposal was never submitted, for reasons well reported at the time.
Many thanks again for the positive support.

PS: Regarding the appeal - DCSA has its own fund. Should we have another? I don't think so. However, as mentioned previously, I intend to retire. But to do that we will want another TREASURER. Can the Gazette please help find one?

Have you noticed that there is not a single Conservative District Councillor representing Malton or Norton Wards! Makes you think even more about the vote results!
