A NEW manager has been appointed to run a North Yorkshire hotel which is being given a £30 million revamp by a York company.
The York-based Skelwith Group, owner of Raithwaite Hall Country Retreat in Whitby, has announced the appointment of Richard Mansell as its general manager ahead of its grand opening in October.
Mr Mansell has spent nearly 20 years in the hotel and hospitality industry, five of them with West Paces, which will operate Raithwaite Hall on behalf of the Skelwith Group.
Paul Ellis, managing director of the Skelwith Group, said: “Richard’s appointment signals the start of the final push to the grand opening this October.”
Up to 50 people from lead contractors Wates Construction are still on-site, using local labour and suppliers wherever possible. When the hotel is operational it will employ about 150 people.
