POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Malton.
It happened outside the Gate Inn pub in Yorkersgate at about 12.30am on Sunday, April 10.
A 19-year-old was hit in the face by a man he did not recognise, causing him to fall to the ground. The victim suffered a broken jaw.
The man who carried out the attack is described as being aged about 20, white, 5ft 8in tall, thin build, a freckled complexion and short dark hair. At the time of the assault he was wearing a black designer T-shirt with a logo on the front.
Detective Constable Adam Normanton, of Malton CID, said: “This was an utterly unprovoked and nasty attack which left the victim needing to be admitted to hospital for reconstructive surgery.
“I am urging anyone who knows the identity of the assailant to contact me as soon as possible because I need to speak to them as a matter of urgency.”
