RESIDENTS in a North Yorkshire town are being urged to consider becoming magistrates.
An appeal has been launched to encourage people in Scarborough to volunteer for the role, with HM Court Service saying applications from women are particularly welcome.
Anybody aged 18 to 65 can put their name forward and must be prepared to serve at least 26 half-days a year unpaid.
Anybody interested in the role should log on to direct.gov.uk or phone 01423 722008 by May 13.
