A NORTH Yorkshire MP has called for plans to move British clocks forward permanently to be scrapped.
Tourism chiefs say ditching Greenwich Mean Time and bringing the UK into line with the rest of Europe would boost visitor numbers because of lighter evenings, and Parliament is now scrutinising a Bill which could lead to clocks going forward by an hour for all or part of the year.
But Thirsk and Malton MP Anne McIntosh told the House of Commons yesterday that the changes would harm the tourist industry in North Yorkshire.
