THE £10,000 reward being offered for information to help police in the hunt for York chef Claudia Lawrence has been reinstated, after it was withdrawn last month.

A spokesman for Claudia’s father, Peter Lawrence, said he was extremely relieved the decision to drop the Crimestoppers reward had been reversed.

The cash reward, which is for information that leads to the conviction of those responsible for Claudia’s disappearance, was first made available shortly after she vanished in March last year. Last month, Crimestoppers told The Press it had been withdrawn because the charity had not received a renewal request from North Yorkshire Police.

In response, North Yorkshire Police said they had not submitted the request because at the last renewal they had been advised this support would no longer continue.

But yesterday, Crimestoppers confirmed the reward had now been renewed.

Martin Dales, a spokesman for Mr Lawrence said: “Peter is very pleased and really grateful for the continued support in the search to find his daughter. He had begun to feel that not much was going on and everybody was losing interest, and the whole thing was a bit of a downer.”

Det Supt Ray Galloway, who is leading the suspected murder investigation, said: “The investigation remains active and lines of enquiry continue to be pursued.

“The reward offers an incentive to anyone out there who has yet to come forward with the crucial piece of information which will lead us to solving Claudia’s disappearance.”

Anyone who has information which may help the inquiry should phone North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
