LINDA Carter, of Mill Street, Norton, ran a personal best in the Great North Run and raised over £400 for Malton Hospital through sponsorship.

Linda, 41, who works as a cleaner at Norton College, completed the course in just over two hours. It was her third attempt at the run in as many years.

"I run about two or three times a week but I am thinking of packing it in now," said Linda.

"I have had a few injuries and I think I might just be getting too old for this!"

Mary Stevens, general manager at Malton Hospital, said: "We would be delighted to accept the money from her.

"We have an up to date list of items we need and we thank her for her efforts on behalf of the hospital.

"We would like to give our thanks not only to Linda but the whole community who support our hospital tremendously well."
