REGULARS at a Ryedale village pub are always game for a laugh - and have raised an impressive £2,000 for charity in the process.

The wacky drinkers at The Ham and Cheese, Scagglethorpe, spent almost a year dreaming up unusual events, raising the cash for the Children In Need appeal as they went along.

Landlady Diane Shire said the locals could be relied upon to help out in the most inventive ways.

She said: "We had a sponsored walk from Scarborough to Scagglethorpe, where we pushed a wheelie bin all the way with Pudsey bear inside it.

"And we did a sponsored bike ride on five exercise bikes in the pub, where 12 of us took it in turns to pedal like mad."
