AN EXHIBITION in Ryedale this week aims to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Meccano.
Building sets are still being made today but they first appeared on the market in 1901, said organiser John Martin.
"People have grown up with them and now there are many adult enthusiasts out there who build very complicated machinery with it," he said.
"The exhibition will also be a celebration of Hornby railways sets and Dinky toys."
The event is taking place at Lady Lumley's School, in Pickering, on Sunday May 6 from 10am-4.30pm.
"A number of adult enthusiasts will be demonstrating some of their most complicated constructions," said Mr Martin, who is head of music at the school.
"It is something of a family event because it will interest both adults and children.
"All money raised from the event will go towards supporting music and performing arts at the school."
A special Moorsbus will be running on the day between Pickering Railway Station and Lady Lumley's School.
Tickets for the event are £2 for adults, £4 for a family of six and 50p for concessions.
