Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League round-up

IN division one, the promotion hatch was closed on Duncombe Park as they went down by eight wickets at Sessay.

Steve Langstaff (4 for 34) and Steve Frare (3 for 32) bowled Park out for 155, with Peter Kent making 33 and Marek Mulvihill 29. When Sessay batted, Matt Till fell for 47 but John Flintoff remained unbeaten with 62 as Sessay strolled to victory. They now lead second-placed Driffield by six points and are a further eight points ahead of long-time leaders Carlton Towers.

In division four, Pickering seconds head the table after a six-wicket win at Acomb. The hosts were dismissed for 88 - Dave Tute hitting 51 of them - by Ian Johnson (4 for 25) and Andrew Grayson (3 for 16). R W Aconley (35) and K R Aconley (25 not out) then took Pickering to victory. Title rivals Bolton Percy kept up the pace on Pickering with a two-wicket win at Selby.

A one-sided derby at Sheriff Hutton saw the hosts inflict a 110-run defeat on Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Richard Armitage hit 35 out of the Castlemen's first 41 runs. Ben Tompkins (34) and Peter Carr (31) added 60 for the fourth wicket before Tony Hull (20) lifted the total to 162 for 9. Dave Ellis and Dave Houldridge each took three wickets for Bridge, whose batsmen failed to cope with Paul Evans, whose 6 for 28 had them all out for just 52.

In the premier division, Beverley second-teamer Simon Roe was their match-winner at Sheriff Hutton Bridge, whose one-wicket loss with one delivery to spare confirmed their relegation.

Sheriff got off to a good start as Paul Oldfield (40) and Mike Smith (20) enjoyed a half-century opening stand. Steve Crowder weighed in with 23 before Paul Scaling produced a top score of 54.

Simon Roe captured a superb 8 for 95 in 21 overs, with the sequence being broken by a run-out, as the home side banked full batting points at 205 for 9.

Mike Smith removed Tim Fordon and Peter Parnaby with only 19 on the board but his side's next success was a long time coming, as Jamie Mitchell and Ali Brumfield added 125 before the latter fell to Nick Scaling for 52.

Paul Oldfield then made inroads with 4 for 63 but could not prevent Mitchell reaching his century. The opener's innings was ended at 185 for 7 when he was run out by Steve Crowder. This brought Beverley's last man, Barry Sayer, to the wicket with 15 still required for victory.

He proved to be just the man for a crisis, making an unbeaten 12 to help Ian Sugden (seven not out) take the East Yorkshire side to a narrow win in an exciting final home game for the Bridge in the top flight.

Hovingham seconds, who have led division six for much of the season, handed the title to New Earswick after falling to a poor defeat at Wilberfoss.

Hovingham were all out for 95, as Steve Cooper took 3 for 22. James Crawford hit 41 not out and 62-year-old Dave Hollingsworth 36, as 'Foss won by eight wickets.

Details from the Hovingham versus New Earswick game were not received.
