HELMSLEY Young Farmers held their annual clay pigeon shoot at High Baxtons Farm on May 20, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs David Snowdon. A well-organised evening was set up with different traps and shooting positions to test members' abilities. Winners were: David Teasdale and Rob Flintoft at down-the-line and Edward Blizzard in the sporting. Mrs Ann Snowdon provided everyone with a delicious supper. Thanks to Hovingham Clay Club for providing traps and helpers.

On May 27, the club held a car treasure hunt which started at Helmsley and finished at Ray and Sally Flintoft's, in Bransdale, where the event finished with a grand barbecue. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by the many members from all Ryedale clubs. Thanks to Richard Bell and Michael Leckonby for planning the treasure hunt and to Ray and Sally for the barbecue.

On Sunday, June 1, members took part at the County Rally at Nidderdale show ground. Thanks to all members who took part and well done to: Rob Flintoft (1st in hand-shearing sheep); Jenny Flintoft (1st in breeding sheep); Barry Wheldon and James Hawkins (2nd in nature trail.
