Ryedale Beckett League Division One - Pickering 128 for 1 bt Malton and Old Malton 127 for 8 by 9 wkts - PICKERING ended Malton and Old Malton's record as the only unbeaten side in the division. The Pikes' decision to put Malton in looked to be a mistake as Malton raced to 69 for 1 after six overs with West Indian and Dunnington professional Kirk Powell (33) in full flow and Greg Johnson also playing well. The game changed with the wicket of Powell, caught and bowled by Mark Shepherd. Ady Boyes was in great form, taking 4 for 18, while Matt Hartup took 2 for 33. Excellent fielding from the young players in the Pickering side restricted Malton to 58 in the last nine overs. In reply, Colin Frank made an impressive 67 not out, putting on 80 for the first wicket with Mark Shepherd (26). When Shepherd was out, Aussie Sean Stuchbery (20 not out) knocked the rest of the runs off with Frank.

A devastating spell from Burythorpe's Pete Aconley (4 for 7 in four overs) ended Whitwell's chances. W Barber (20) and T Coulson (22 not out) ensured Whitwell used up their overs.

Settrington 84 for 5 bt

Swinton and Broughton 83 for 1 by 5 wkts

An opening partnership of 82 between B Horsman (30) and J Pearson (31 not out) accounted for all but one run of the Swinton innings. It was only broken when stand-in keeper Jamie Rounthwaite stumped Horsman off the bowling of father Jonty with two balls to go. Settrington's reply was initially based around the experience of Pete Midgeley (29) until he was bowled by Robert Armitage (2 for 9). Despite a little wobble, Andrew Taylor made his top score of the season, 26 not out, to see Settrington through to a comfortable victory.
