SCHOOLS across Ryedale closed early today because of the snow.
Sherburn Primary School, Lady Lumley’s School in Pickering and Luttons Primary School joined 10 other schools in North Yorkshire which were forced to send pupils home early.
Teachers at Amotherby Primary School said they kept the school open until the end of the day, but were still to make a judgement on whether or not to open tomorrow.
Kirkbymoorside Primary School remained open until 3.30pm, but the Valentine’s disco planned for tonight has been cancelled.
Alison Priestley, deputy headteacher, said: “We were planning to have a disco for the infants from 5pm-7pm and another for the juniors from 7pm-11pm. Unfortunately we have had to postpone this until after half-term, because of the weather.”
