The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunder in Ryedale this weekend.
The forecasters say heavy rain and thunderstorms are to hit the district along with most parts of England and Wales on Sunday (June 18).
They warned that flash floods, power cuts and transport cancellations will be likely due to the extreme weather.
The storms are expected to start in the early hours of Sunday morning and last throughout the day into the night.
No other weather warnings are in place for this weekend.
