There was one more Covid death recorded over the latest weekly period in Ryedale.

The latest figures from the UK coronavirus dashboard show a total of 164 people had died in the area by May 11 – up from 163 the week before.

York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust was caring for 79 patients with Covid in hospital as of May 24 figures show.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital with Covid by 8am on the day was up from 78 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid decreased by 29 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 111.

Nationally, the number of hospital patients with Covid has decreased by 35 per cent in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 20 per cent.

The figures also show that 33 new patients with Covid were admitted to hospital in York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the week to May 22. This was up from 30 in the previous seven days.
