Just a month after completing a 29-mile run around Ryedale a personal trainer is taking on another mammath challenge.

Ollie Varey ran to every Next Steps hub at Norton, Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering on April 28.

This Sunday, Ollie and one of his clients, Nick Dean, will be taking on a sponsored rowing challenge for his charity for the month of May - YMCA Ryedale.

Ollie , who works at Derwent Swim and Fitness Centre in Norton, is choosing a different organisation every month to raise money and awareness of the work they do in the local community.
The 25-year-old decided to do something after seeing the fundraising effort by Sinfield, a former Leeds Rhino player.
Sinfield, 42, clocked up about 40 miles a day, to raise money in aid of motor neurone disease (MND), inspired by his former Leeds Rhino teammate and close friend Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with the condition in late 2019.

So far Ollie has raised hundreds of pounds for Next Steps, Acorn Community Care, Sight Support and Ryedale Special Families.

Ollie said: "On Sunday we will be aiming for around 20,000 metres maybe more if we’re feeling brave… all in aid to raise awareness and funds for this brilliant charity!

I’m really glad that Nick is joining me  so give us both motivation to keep going as it’s a fair distance on a rowing machine!

"Any size donations are hugely appreciated and go a long was for a great cause."

Ryedale YMCA is a local, independent Charity supporting the local community for over 25 years; providing supported accommodation for young people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness and/or are vulnerable. The charity works with other agencies and have an application process to identify suitable residents.
