A singing group for new mums and their babies is to start in Norton.
North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre is to launch the new group 'Thula Mama', on Thursday, May 4, at Trinity Methodist Church Rooms, Plum Street.
The group has been designed specifically to nourish the needs of mothers, as well as their babies, and to encourage mothers to get together and sing.
Organisers explained how ‘Thula Mama’ comes from a traditional South African lullaby, translated as "hush, be quiet, don't cry".
Songs will have some reference to mothers, fathers, and children - and will include lullabies, chants, uplifting gospel songs, blues, and folk songs from around the world.
The group is for mums with pre-crawling age children only.

Refreshments will be served from 9am, and the singing begins at 9.30am.
The group will be facilitated by choir leader Alison Davis.
Alison leads three choirs in Ryedale, as well as several regular singing sessions for North Yorkshire Music Therapy Centre.
