POPULAR restaurant weeks in North Yorkshire are to start from today (March 6).

Both York and Scarborough restaurant weeks are to begin today, offering discounts and deals for diners in selected restaurants all this week – coming to end on Sunday (March 12).

The events return after success in 2022 and see restaurants offer discounts and deals via online vouchers, in a bid to encourage both residents and visitors to treat themselves to some of the best food and drink the areas have to offer.

Scarborough

In Scarborough, the event has been created by Scarborough Digital and Embers Scarborough Restaurant Week, with funding and support from the Yorkshire Coast BID.

It is open for all local cafes and restaurants to take part, with deals already on offer at Café Fish, York Place; The Cactus, Victoria Road; and The Scarborough Arms, North Terrace.

Speaking on the event in Scarborough, Dan Hargreaves from Embers, Scarborough commented: “With the abundance of local produce and great chefs in Scarborough, we feel this is a great opportunity for people to try and experience what we have to offer.”

Kerry Carruthers, chief executive of Yorkshire Coast Bid, added: “Scarborough Restaurant Week is an event that has continued to grow and grow.

“It not only brings people to the area to try the delicious food and drink we have on offer, but it also supports local businesses.

“I’m immensely proud that the Yorkshire Coast BID is able to once again support this endeavour, and I can’t wait to try all of the mouthwatering offers available!”

York BID business manager, Chris Bush, is co-ordinating the event in York.

He said: “With the current cost of living crisis squeezing household budgets, we’re really pleased to be able to offer so many affordable ways to eat out. There really is something to suit every occasion, from a light bite, sweet treat or three course dinner.”
