A RYEDALE author has been shortlisted for a national award.

Jane Lovering, who lives near Kirkbymoorside, has been shortlisted in the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s (RNA) annual Romantic Novel Awards for her book, ‘A Cottage Full of Secrets’.

The awards celebrate excellence in romantic fiction in all its forms.

Jane, who works in the Co-op as a day job, has written 25 published novels in various genres and has been published since 2008.

Her novel, A Cottage Full of Secrets, takes readers back to 1973, when character Stella made a home in a little cottage in Yorkshire.

In 2022, character Tamzin moves into the cottage and begins to investigate Stella's past, little suspecting that they share a background of abuse.

With help from new friends, Tamzin frees herself from her past and makes a new future.

On the nomination, Jane said: “I am absolutely bowled over and ‘squealingly’ delighted, to the extent that, in an attempt to avoid cliches, I am inventing words like 'squealingly’.

“I'm really and truly honoured to be shortlisted.’”

Jean Fullerton, the RNA Chair, said: “Once again, our lovely reader-judges have had the almost impossible task of creating award shortlists from what is an unbelievable number of cracking, page-turning novels. Thankfully, they have, and I can only say this year’s shortlist books are the crème de la crème of romantic fiction.”

The RNA is a professional body primarily for writers of romantic fiction.

Founded in 1960 to provide a voice for romance authors and to be a network for writers, it continues to raise the prestige of romantic fiction and encourage romantic authorship.
